iCloud & on-device storage

Some of our apps offer optional iCloud sync so you can access your data across your own devices. This feature is always opt-in and works as follows:

How iCloud sync works

Your iCloud account, your data. When iCloud sync is enabled, app data (such as ACME profiles in SimpleSSL) is stored in your own private CloudKit container. This data is associated with your Apple ID and governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy.

Ridgeley has no access. We cannot read, view, modify, or delete data stored in your private CloudKit container. Only you — and Apple, per their policies — have access to this data.

Local storage

Data you choose to save to disk (exported certificates, keys, bundles) is saved to locations you specify via the standard macOS file picker. This data remains entirely under your control. Ridgeley LLC has no access to your file system.

Keychain storage

Sensitive credentials (such as DNS provider API keys) are stored in your device's macOS Keychain, using Apple's Security framework. Keychain items are sandboxed to the application and are not accessible to Ridgeley LLC.

Third-party services

Our apps do not include third-party analytics libraries, advertising SDKs, crash reporting services, or social media frameworks.

Apple App Store

Distribution of our apps through the Apple App Store is subject to Apple's own privacy practices. Apple may collect information such as purchase history, app download records, and aggregate usage statistics per their Privacy Policy. Ridgeley LLC does not control Apple's data practices.

Network requests initiated by you

Certain features — such as the Chain Checker's live TLS check or the ACME Certificate Manager's domain validation — make outbound network connections on your behalf. These connections go directly from your device to the target server. Ridgeley LLC does not proxy, log, or have visibility into these connections.

DNS providers (ACME feature)

If you configure an ACME profile with a DNS provider integration (such as Cloudflare or Namecheap), the app will communicate directly with that provider's API using credentials you supply. These credentials are stored only in your Keychain. Ridgeley LLC never sees or stores your DNS provider credentials or API tokens.

Children's privacy

Our apps are not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because we collect no personal data from any user, there is no specific data collection risk for younger users, but our apps are designed for professional and technical use by adults.

If you believe a child has provided personal information in connection with one of our apps, please contact us at the address below and we will address your concerns promptly.

Your rights & data subject requests

Because Ridgeley LLC does not collect, store, or process personal data about you, there is typically nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete on our end.

If you use iCloud sync, you can delete your app data from iCloud at any time via System Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your device, or by deleting the app (which removes associated iCloud data per Apple's policies).

Residents of California (CCPA), the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions with data protection laws retain all applicable rights. Given our zero-collection policy, we are confident we are not processing personal data in a way that triggers obligations under these frameworks — but if you have a specific concern or request, please contact us and we will respond promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the version number and effective date at the top of this page. We will also update the privacy policy URL in the App Store listings for any affected apps.

Because we collect no contact information, we cannot notify you by email of changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of our apps after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

The current version of this policy is always available at https://privacy.ridgeley.dev
